Physical Education (PE) Intent Statement

Physical Education (PE) Intent Statement

"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."
– Robert Collier

At Holly Spring Primary School, we believe that Physical Education is an essential part of every child's education and plays a vital role in developing healthy, confident and resilient individuals.

Through high-quality physical education, children learn far more than sporting skills; they develop determination, teamwork, leadership, respect and the confidence to challenge themselves both physically and mentally.

We believe every child should experience success, discover their strengths and develop a lifelong appreciation of physical activity.

Our PE curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and progressive, ensuring that every child, regardless of their starting point, is supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, pupils build secure fundamental movement skills before applying them across a wide range of sports and physical activities.

Children are encouraged to reflect on, evaluate and improve their own performance as well as support and encourage others, developing independence and a growth mindset.

At Holly Spring, we strive to create an environment where challenge is embraced, mistakes are viewed as opportunities to learn and every achievement is celebrated.

Our curriculum is driven by our three core principles: Knowledge, Aspiration and Experience, ensuring that every child leaves Holly Spring with the skills, confidence and motivation to lead healthy, active and fulfilling lives.
